As a first episode of this show, let me just give you a brief background about myself, what this show is all about, and what inspired me to start this one.
Prior to my freelance work, I served as a call center agent for over four years. I've experienced working on graveyard shifts, slept when the sun is high and got back to work when our kids are off to bed. I've taken calls on New Year and Christmas eve. There were great perks, bonuses and incentives. But the call center is not for me. At that time, we already have 2 kids, we were renting a small room and as I look at our kids, I knew that if I'm going to work in the call center, I may not be able to fully support their needs. I was a regular customer of a lending company and have used my ATM card as a collateral. And that just made me think even more how will I be able to escape from the cycle of borrowing.
I didn't have many options at that time. I'm a college dropout. I never finished my engineering course, nor my Computer science course. I only knew how to write, type fast, and talk in English. And by God's grace, I learned about freelancing from a site called PinoyMoneyTalk. I have been amazed by how some of the members claim of earning online. And it didn't take long, out of my curiosity I've found my first gig writing 100 comments for a blog and got my first pay of $10.
That is the first gig and my first proof that online jobs are for real, and the rest is history. I stepped out of the call center in 2009 and never looked back.
Fast forward to today, I've been working online for about 6 years now and I'd say that this is one of the best decisions I've made.
And if you're listening right now, you're like a square peg stuck in a round hole, explore freelancing.
If you're not satisfied with your job, and all you do is look at the clock and hope that it will just jump to 5'oclock so you can leave immediately, then I'd say, dig more about online jobs.
If you're a family man just like me and you're missing quality time with your kids because of work, why not consider working at home?
If you're contemplating on going to the middle east to work as a domestic helper, I'd say, think again.
I'm not promising you anything, but let me just bring to your attention some compelling reasons why you should consider freelancing online.
- Your Family
- Income
- Growth
- Opportunity
- Safety
Until then, enjoy the rest of your day.
